NEWSLETTER Part 1
Firstly a belated happy new year, it
has been so busy that we have not had the opportunity to put up here all
the new things that are going on.
Apologies if this newsletter ends up
being a long one but we have just come back from the Nimes Indoor
Tournament and the tradeshow this year was bigger than ever, we found some
really good new products that will find their way in to all three shops
over the coming weeks.
More details to follow but here are
some of the smaller items like Angel Majesty Strings made by Angel, Angel
Slide Dampener Weight for Stabilisers hopefully the amazing Angel recurve
and Compound sights. Sights from Soma, a range of new products from Flex
Archery and some new Compound and Recurve cases
If you ever get the chance to go out
to Nimes to shoot or just visit grab the opportunity with both hands and
go. The standard of shooting at the highest level is mind blowing yet the
tournament also caters for archers of all abilities and for some even if
you do not make the top 64 there is always the secondary tournament.
The Old town of Nimes is also very
interesting with many old buildings and most of the Old Town is pedestrianised
and even when you accidentally stray off the tourist path using common
sense the place feels safe.
Facebook You can now follow us there
it seems a quick and convenient place to put up snippets of information
about us and new products.
Compound Bows
We have always sold compound bows in
all our Pro Shops but last year we were in two minds as to the products we
should be selling and supporting. This year the decision is very clear -
our two major Brands will be Hoyt and Mathews which also includes Mission
Unlike previous years we will do our
best to ensure that we have a good selection of bows in stock, for the
single cam bows we will also be carrying spare cams to adjust the draw
length. Obviously there will be times when we don't have the right colour
but it should just be a case of a few days wait to get one in once you
have decided on the specification.
As important as having stock very
shortly everyone will be fully trained on the details of each bow and the
mechanics of support.
We will also continue to sell the
Bowtech Pro Dually we think this is a fantastic little compound bow light
accurate and with a wide draw length adjustment range ideal for anyone
wishing to take up the sport.
Recurve Bows
Hoyt
Well Hoyt certainly put the cat
amongst the pigeons with the New Formula RX bow and selection of Foam or
Wood core limbs. Despite all the reservations about not being ILF people
are starting to realise that this bow is different it shoots different and
feels different and for many it re write the bow length selection. I also
have it on good authority that the bow is not a one season wonder, Hoyt
are already selling these top end bows faster than forecast all over the
world. The choice of limb is an interesting one whether to go for the F4
foam core or the F3 wood core, both a smooth and fast. The top archers are
opting for the F3's mainly because they are ever so slightly more stable
but being wood core they do need more care and looking after. As you know
our background includes making bows and we have been confused if that is
the right word at the amount of wood used in the F3 limb especially as it
is not laminated, surely a piece of wood that thick would break after a
while but no we are reliably informed by one of the designers that the
wood core is impregnated with a resin that not only makes it flexible and
a consistent flex at that but waterproof although we would suggest that
care is still needed not to break the surface finish.
Hoyt also saw their first
European Podium Gold when Berengere SCHUH won shooting an RX with F3
Limbs in the women's recurve scoring 120 out of 120 (FITA 18 m 3 Spot) in
the head to head final.
The GMX is also proving our best
seller at the top end and works really well with the 990TX limbs.
At the other end of the price scale
we are very impressed with the Excel 23" CNC handle ideal for those
with a short draw length or children. For adults that want a heavier
handle the re styled Eclipse is also a good choice.
Win & Win
Rather than go through the whole
range which is largely unchanged the big news for 2010 is the introduction
of the Win & Win Inno CXT and the EX Limbs. This is going to be a
popular riser and limb combination to rival the Hoyt GMX. Based on the
design of the Inno it incorporates new features such as an adjustable
weight so the bows mass weight can be made to fit anything from 1150g to
1300g. In common with all the top limbs you will have a choice of Foam or
Wood core limbs and as with the Hoyt limbs the characteristics of speed
and stability seem to apply although the make up is completely different.
KAYA LIMBS
It is early days yet but it looks
like we will be selling the two top of the range products, both Foam Core
called the VPERF and FEATURE K. These limbs are already being used to
great effect by some top archers in Italy Mauro Nespoli to name one of the
more well known. But this weekend that was surpassed and they are the buzz
word around all archery circles around the Globe as this weekend (Nimes) Michele
Frangelli won the Gents recurve shooting with these limbs. Keep an eye out
on here for the latest news pricing and availability.
EASTON
The X10's & Pro Tours continue
in 2010 as the top tournament arrow with the ever popular ACE.
Navigators are now discontinued an
we have some special offer on stock shafts these are being replaced by the
A/C/G they are slightly heavier but Easton have tightened up the weight
and spine matching.
A/C/C are still the most reliable
first carbon arrow for recurve and compound alike in our opinion nothing
as yet comes close to ease of spine matching and reliability.
Because of the ban on all carbon
arrows on many shooting grounds we do not carry vast ranges of the Easton
all carbon arrows but if there is a range you would like to buy we can
source them and the components quite easily.
